IBAS Sydney is situated in the hub of the Chinatown district. It is near office buildings, a range of businesses and in close proximity to University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, the Opera House and other city attractions. This three-storey premise features facilities such as a Buddha Hall, dining hall, gift shop, library, tearoom, classroom and Ch’an meditation hall. Since 1995 the annual Buddha’s Birthday Celebration has been held at Darling Harbour, attracting visitors from different cultural backgrounds. The event features vegetarian delicacies from around the globe, spectacular musical and dance performances, Tea Ch’an ceremonies, lantern decorating competitions, ‘Prayer for World Peace’ services to name a few. It provides an opportunity for the public to gain an understanding of Buddhism, interact and experience Chinese culture and further the magnanimous embrace of other cultures. Reverend: Rev. Ru Ye Activities:IBAS Sydney offers a range of art and craft classes and interest groups, including English Buddhism course, Buddhist Hymn class, Chinese instrumental class, Chinese painting class, Buddhist scripture course, Vegetarian cooking class, Tai Chi class, Chinese School and Buddhist Study Groups.
